Day 1: Sacred Valley Tour
The tour begins with pickup from the passengers’ hotels in Cusco between 6:30 and 6:45 a.m. At 7:00 a.m., the tour officially starts with our first destination: Chinchero, known as the land of the rainbow. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the living culture of the Quechua descendants who preserve their ancestral traditions.
Next, we’ll head to Moray, the famous Inca agricultural laboratory where various types of crops were grown in different microclimates. Then, we’ll visit the Maras Salt Mines, an impressive system of ponds that extract salt from a natural spring, being one of the main sources of salt in the region.
The tour continues to Ollantaytambo, known as the living Inca town, famous for its architecture and for being the main gateway to the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. After that, we’ll visit Pisaq, an important archaeological site famous for its agricultural terraces and its unique Inca cemetery located high in the mountains. Finally, we’ll stop at the Pisaq handicraft market where travelers can shop for local handmade products.
The tour ends around 7:00 p.m. in Cusco’s Main Square.
