Itinerary
Day 1: Rainbow Mountain
The tour begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco between 3:30 and 4:00 am. After a drive of approximately two hours, we arrive at the picturesque town of Cusipata, where you’ll enjoy a light breakfast. Here, you’ll also have time to buy drinks and use the restrooms before continuing to Chillihuani, the starting point of the hike, located at 4,500 meters above sea level.
After a safety briefing and recommendations, the hike to Rainbow Mountain begins, which takes around 2 hours. Along the way, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the mountains, valleys, lagoons, streams, and countless species of native fauna. After walking approximately 3 km, you’ll reach the summit of Rainbow Mountain—a natural phenomenon that looks like a giant rainbow.
Once at the top, you’ll receive a detailed explanation of the mountain’s geological formation. You’ll have free time to take photos and marvel at the surroundings before descending to Cusipata, where a traditional Peruvian lunch will be served. The return to Cusco is estimated around 5:00 pm.
